Our Story: Growing up in poverty, both of his parents died from HIV, making Pius an orphan at just five years old. At the age of 16, he was forced to drop out of school and live on the streets after his elderly foster parents passed away. It was only by the sponsoring of a church organization in the community that gave Pius an opportunity to go back to school. After working hard he was able to save up some money to share his home with several orphans who had no one to take care of them. The hard life he experienced motivated him to be the voice for orphans, the homeless, and vulnerable children with HIV and disabilities.
“I knew the life these children were living was harder than they could bear. They have no help from others, nor the government. It is my passion to have a safe home that is good for all children, with no discrimination. Where children no longer need to worry about education and health care costs, or where their next meal is going to come from. I was inspired by the name Jedidiah in 2 Samuel 12:25, meaning ‘beloved of Jehovah’.” The scripture shows that God loves children and knows them even before they are born. The children have a song here that they always sing which says, "I'm not forgotten, the Lord knows my name"
In 2017, Jedidiah Children's Mission was started by Pius Kabiswa Kiryowa in Uganda. In 2020, Kelsey Lininger formed JCM into a Non-Profit Organization in the United States. Currently, there are over 89 children living at the Children’s Home and the number will continue to grow due to the increasing number of children in need. With faith and determination, you can help us end the cycle of poverty.
-James 1:27- "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
